In July 1989, France celebrated the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution.  More modestly, the Town of Pontorson inaugurated " Musiques à Pontorson " The newly elected municipality conducted an inventory of Pontorson's cultural and artistic resources, supreme among these is the magnificent Norman church built by the architects of Mont-Saint-Michel and gifted with a wonderful acoustic quality. The Town and Parish also inaugurated the newly reconstructed Saby organ in the same year. The result is a real miracle of harmony between the church and its organ, a masterpiece of German baroque aesthetics.

This was the opportunity to launch a musical season of concerts supported by the wonderful organ with a series of talented musicians who have expressed at their best over the last twenty years of "Musiques à Pontorson". The nature of the church inspires security and peace, its generous acoustics, the quality of the musicians, all together have created a unique atmosphere for one to appreciate this glorious temple of music.
